Problem
Managing user roles and permissions on the PEXA platform was a manual, time-consuming process that required intervention from customer support. Users from member companies lacked the ability to self-serve when assigning or modifying user roles and permissions, leading to inefficiencies, delays, and frustration.

This highlighted the need for a self-service user management portal that empowered users to independently manage roles and permissions while maintaining security and compliance.

Problem
The manual process of user management.
It takes too much time & effort to manage users and their roles for both the subscriber users and the PEXA Support team.

Research, Market Analysis
Most if not all the user management solutions that we looked at were self-service & users also felt that the current method was inefficient.
At the time, we only had 4 companies so it was feasible to keep it manual but if we wanted to scale (which was the plan), we needed to make this process self-service to the users, but how do we organise a role hierarchy so that users can manage themselves in a simple, intuitive way is the question.
Solution
User management roles & permissions
Subscribers can now assign PEXA Admin roles to their moderating staff members, one of which is the User Manager role. This is the role that will be able to self-serve the user management functions. Non-admin users may also view and edit their own user details, but will not see any major edit functions like permissions or roles.
